Using Sky Maps, RA+Dec, Finding your object (nighttime),
by Richard Brown
Abstract:
This nighttime class will give you hands on experience how to point and use various scopes to find the object. This will include star hopping, charts, using RA + Dec settings, goto, finder scopes and Telrad techniques to find that deep sky object. Scopes of different types will be provided for you to discover or improve your nighttime observing skills.
There is also a daytime class available, that will give you useful information/overview on this subject (see Sky Maps, RA+Dec, How to find your object).
Prerequisites:
No prior experience required for either class. Whether you are a new observer or just want to polish your planning and observing experience, discover the observing tools available or just hands on with different scopes
Unlike the daytime classroom sessions, this nighttime session is limited to fewer students due to space and other limitations.
