Abstract:

This workshop covers basic Photoshop concepts necessary for enhancing a one-shot color (OSC) image that has been calibrated and assembled in other software.  Topics include:

  • Why use Photoshop?
  • OSC Processing Workflow
  • Destructive vs. non-destructive edits
  • Exposure and contrast adjustments
  • Global edits with destructive tools
  • Global Non-destructive adjustments using layers
  • Intro to Color
  • Basic color balance
  • Sharpening and Noise Reduction

Photoshop is a very broad and powerful program with many tools that can be used for almost any type of image processing. The objective of Don’s Photoshop sessions is to give you a basic understanding of processing astro-images with Photoshop, and to highlight the Photoshop tools and techniques most commonly used to make your astrophotos pop.

Prerequisites:

Basic knowledge of image processing. Although not required, it will be helpful to already be familiar with how to perform basic functions with PhotoShop.
