Don Garland, TSP Pioneer dies at 63

Don Garland was instrumental in bringing TSP to Prude Ranch in 1982, and was a lead organizer for many years. He will surely be missed!

A memorial service will be held on Friday November 10th, 10 AM at The Hills Church, 6300 NE Loop 820, North Richland Hills. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Texas Astronomical Society, McDonald Observatory, International Dark-Sky Association, or your local astronomy club.

Don was a visionary on long-duration videography and developed the concept of star-motion background animation as seen in his 1988 TSP video.

Don was planetarium director for the Noble Planetarium for many years, and a member of the Junior Texas Astronomical Society of Dallas (JTAS).

Donald Roy Garland of Ft Worth, Texas, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at his home in Fort Worth.. He was born on 24 Mar 1954 in Tarrant County, to Walter Garland and Carroll (Ingle) Garland.  Don is survived by his wife Shelly and two children Ian and Jennifer, and brother David.
