Debdie Moran

Debbie Moran has had a lifelong interest in astronomy.  She grew up in Midland, Texas under beautiful skies until moving to Houston at the age of 12.   A member of the Houston Astronomical Society since 1980, she is currently in charge of education for new members and continues to be involved in community outreach.  She is also a frequent volunteer telescope operator at the George Observatory in Brazos Bend State Park.

Debbie has attended many Texas Star Parties beginning with the first one located at the Prude Ranch in 1982.  As a past treasurer of the Astronomical League she has seen the number of observing programs expand from just two to an enormous variety for every observing level.

She is now enjoying more time for astronomy and total solar eclipse chasing around the world since retiring from the Houston Symphony violin section in 2010.
