Jeter_Clayton

Clayton is an avid visual observer with a private observatory which houses his Celestron CPC-1100 Edge HD Schmidt Cassegrain.

Joining the Houston Astronomical Society in 1985 and soon started “Advantage Telescope Repair” company which he still operates in Brenham TX.

Clayton Jeter is a native Houstonian, growing up in Pasadena Texas. As a boy, he was thrilled peeping though his neighbors 3″ Newtonian reflector and observing the Echo-1 communication satellite in 1961.

 

After graduating from Pasadena High School in 1967, he was drafted into the US Army and served in Germany and then Vietnam as a aircraft maintenance technician. Afterwards, he became a Steam Turbine-Generator Tech with Houston Light and Power Co (now called NRG). He worked there 33 years and retired in 2005.

Clayton is married and has one son living in the rolling hills and dairy land south of Brenham in Washington County.
